On behalf of my wife Suzanne and me, I would like to
wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May
our Lord and Savior bless you and your families this Christmas and for
the coming year.
As I reflect on celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus
Christ this Christmas during the Advent season, I would like to share with
you some thoughts of the Meaning of Christmas. As I was reading the Columbia
Magazine this morning, I saw a rhetorical question asked by Pope Benedict
XVI in his weekly general audience December 19, 2007. It read “If people
do not recognize that God was made man, what is the point of Celebrating
Christmas?”
There have been so many times in my life that I have forgotten
about the true meaning of Christmas and got wrapped up in all the material
things, shopping, gift giving, and what am I going to get for Christmas.
As I reflect on the question above, God gave the ultimate gift to us when
He humbled himself and gave us his only Son, born in a manger on Christmas
morning, to die for our sins on the Cross in order that we will have Eternal
Life with Him in Heaven. As you and your families exchange gifts this Christmas,
remember to Rejoice and give Thanks and to God for giving us Jesus and
invite God’s saving Spirit into your hearts, your homes and your communities,
by doing so we will Keep Christ in Christmas. May the Peace of our Lord
be with all of you this Christmas.
In Honoring Christ, we will be hosting a Keep Christ
in Christmas Happy Birthday Jesus celebration on December 13, 2009 after
the 9:00 am mass.
Also we will be presented our Double Star Award by State
Deputy Jim Neff this Sunday December 13, 2009 at the 9:00 am mass. The
4th degree Color Guard will be in attendance in full Regalia. We will be
sitting together as a council. Please come out and receive this prestigious
award with me.
Fraternally Yours,
Bernie Krumpelman
